Cosmetic Dentists - Your Key to a Perfect Smile

Cosmetic Dentists - Your Key to a Perfect Smile

Every single person wants to have that winning close-up smile that we see in toothpaste commercials. It is just so nice to look at our face in the mirror with that gorgeous smile. Somehow, it boosts our confidence and our self-esteem. But how can one have such a perfect smile if he has yellow, crooked teeth with all the gums showing?

The good news is that there are already several dentists practicing cosmetic dentistry. These cosmetic dentists are the answer to one's dream of having that perfect smile. Now there's no need to settle for those poorly structured teeth.

Cosmetic dentists do different cosmetic dentistry procedures to transform your teeth and make them eye-catching. Different procedures are done depending on the current condition of your mouth and teeth. Cosmetic dentists can suggest the procedure that best fits your needs. It can also be a combination of procedures if needed.

The different cosmetic dentistry procedures are as follows:

- Tooth whitening or bleaching.
This procedure brightens stained teeth and those that are discolored. The bleaching procedure may be done at home using an equipment the dentist will provide or at the dentist's clinic.

- Enamel shaping. This modifies the teeth by removing or contouring enamel to improve the appearance. The result of this process can immediately be seen.

- Bonding. This procedure is good for broken, chipped, cracked or stained teeth or those with spaces in between them. The process involves bonding tooth-colored materials into the tooth surface. Bonding can be done together with enamel shaping procedure for better results.

- Braces. If the dentist thinks that a specialist is needed to check your teeth, you may need to see an orthodontist. An orthodontist specializes in making braces for teeth that are crowded, crooked or do not properly meet.

- Veneers. These are used to treat spaces between the teeth and those that are permanently stained, chipped or poorly shaped. Veneers are thin customized shells that cover the front side of the teeth.

- Dental implants. For those with several missing teeth, they may benefit more with dental implants. These are titanium fixtures surgically screwed into the jaw bone. There should be enough bone where the missing teeth are.

- Dental bridge. This is also known as pontic or false tooth. The dental bridge is placed between two porcelain crowns to replace a missing tooth.

There are indeed several procedures that can be done to augment the not-so-perfect teeth that we have right now to achieve that winning smile. There are several more procedures, in fact. Your cosmetic dentist should be able to assess you and suggest the best procedure needed for your teeth.
